San Fran Cable Car and Golden Gate Bridge

Randy and I took a little vacation to San Francisco in June. We were celebrating that we had both graduated in May, and we needed a break! I lived there as a child (along with the other 9 cities all across the country), so I wanted him to see everything I had seen as a child.

We had an awesome view from our hotel room overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. We toured Alcatraz which was the neatest thing I've ever seen! And we rode a cable car over the hill to Chinatown, but don't ask us what we ordered. No one spoke English, and we still don't know how our bill was $43.78, but we do know that we had a blast. We saw Governor Arnold on television almost daily, so we started calling him the Governator. As you can imagine, we did not want to return back to St. Joseph, IL!

Last year when we returned from our vacation to Mt. Rushmore (accidentally scheduled during the Sturgis Harley bike rally, but that's a whole different post), we counted the states that Randy has been in, and he was up to 25 then. So even though we flew over the Rocky Mountains, Salt Lake, and Sierra desert, we can still only add one more state to his count. We are already planning next summer's vacation to the Grand Canyon. We are either driving in a camper or taking AMTRAK, so either way, he'll get to add more states to his count.

Wow, you never cease to amaze me with what you can accomplish! I think you are very brave. It sounds like you gave your son a wonderful trip. I feel very fortunate to know you.
